Join Cheryl Rykowski and Karen Monger of The 3 Foragers for a guided forage at Bear Mountain Park in Danbury, CT where you may happen upon fresh berries, wild greens, edible flowers, and summer fungi.
Hike Details
This is not an aggressive hike, but a slow, 2-hour forage through Bear Mountain’s easiest trails with frequent stops to identify edible plants such as fresh berries, wild greens like lamb’s quarters and sheep sorrel, edible flowers, and summer fungi such as oyster mushrooms or assorted boletes. Refreshments will be served after the hike.
Hikers should carry a notebook and pen for taking notes, a knife or scissors, and a paper bag to collect specimens. Dressing for the weather and possible ticks is essential, along with a bottle of water. All wild plants and mushrooms should be identified and verified with multiple sources before consuming. All participants are responsible for their own actions.
