SUMMARY:Earth Day Hike @ The Roy Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Led by CVRLT Board Member\, Cheryl Rykowski\, come join Candlewood Valley Regional Land Trust on Saturday\, April 20th at 10AM for an Earth Day hike and come see our new property\, the Roy Preserve! \n \nWe will meet at 1 Deal Drive in Danbury – make sure to park along the street. We’ll hike approximately two miles on the Ives Trail via the Old Post Road\, to CVRLT’s newest acquisition\, the Roy Preserve. We’ll loop the property (about a mile) and then hike back. The entire hike should take about 3 hrs. +/-\, depending on weather and stops to bird watch and have snacks. \nThis is an easy to moderate hike over mostly flat\, but rocky and possibly wet ground. Please wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring water and snacks or lunch. We will hike in a light mist but if weather is truly bad\, we will cancel and alert all who have signed up via email. Please check your email the night before and the morning of the hike. We hope you’ll join us! \nRegistration is required. Sign up here. \nLearn more about our newest property here: \nIn December 2023\, we gratefully received a pristine 4.93 parcel donation at 149 Long Ridge Road in Danbury from Mr. Noel Roy of Ridgefield\, CT.  The parcel is nearby three other CVRLT properties along Long Ridge Road\, the Schwab\, Barnard\, and Wiedel Preserves. The new parcel is accessible from the Ives Trail via the Old Post Road. DESCRIPTION:Come on\, come all and join Candlewood Valley Regional Land Trust for an Earth Day cleanup at our Hahlawah Preserve in New Fairfield on April 20th from 10am-2pm. This is a great opportunity to do your part in making a difference this Earth Day… \nActivities will include planting native plants\, moving wood chips\, cleaning up the vernal pool area\, removing invasives\, chopping up fallen branches\, etc. \nCan’t make it? There will be another chance to come help on May 4th at 10am.

DESCRIPTION:ATTENTION MEMBERS! In conjunction with the Danbury Lions Club\, we are offering FREE saplings to our CVRLT members. Saplings will be available in the following choices: \n\n500 Red Oak 12-18″\n500 Sugar Maple 8-12″\n500 White Oak 12-18″\n500 Black Walnut 12-24″\n500 Red Splendor Crabapple 18-24″\n\n\nThe saplings will come wrapped in bags. The black walnuts will be bare root due to their size. Please also bring shopping bags or boxes for pickup.\n \n\n\nWe will be giving the saplings out to all CVRLT members on Sunday\, April 21st\, between 11am-1pm at Hidden Valley in New Fairfield.
