DESCRIPTION: Call for Spring Cleaning Volunteers!\nThis Saturday May 5\, 2018 is Clean City Danbury Day\nWe need your help to spruce up the following CVRLT protected properties in Danbury. With assistance from volunteers\, we can clean up each site in 2 to 3 hours! The City of Danbury DPW will haul away all the trash we collect.\n\nBIRCH ROAD\nMeet CVRLT board member Gary Mummert at 10:00 am at the access area between 27 Birch Road and 23 Birch Road. Parking in this area can be a challenge\, so arrive early.\n\nNABBY ROAD\nMeet CVRLT board member Rich Hlavenka at 10:00 am in the parking area behind Stew Leonard’s Liquors on Nabby Road.\n\nLONG RIDGE ROAD\nMeet CVRLT board member David Campbell at 9:30 am at the Long Ridge Library on Long Ridge Road. If you drive to this location\, please park along the small lane leading to the library on the far side of the stream.\n\nPlease come equipped to handle trash: gloves and sturdy boots (waterproof if possible). DESCRIPTION:Candlewood Valley Regional Land Trust will be holding its annual meeting on Saturday\, April 28th\, 12:30 pm at Komlo Preserve\, 140 Route 37 in New Fairfield. \nDRIVING DIRECTIONS: Enter 130 Route 37\, New Fairfield for GPS and take that driveway straight back (it forks to the left) on to the dirt road to arrive at Dunham Pond. Signage will direct your where to park. \nBen Garson of Dogology\nFollowing a very brief annual meeting will be a featured speaker\, Ben Garson of Dogology\, who will give a talk on “Hiking with Your Dog”. After Ben’s talk\, all two-footed and four-footed friends are invited to hike at Komlo Preserve. Light refreshments will be served. Bring your favorite collar!\nRSVP to info@candlewoodvalleyrlt.org. \nKomlo Preserve is an idyllic setting with open meadows\, Komlo Preserve offers a wildlife sanctuary\, forested wetlands\, and a man-made pond situated in the center of town. \nThe pond\, which was made when gravel was mined for the building of Route 37\, is home to a wide array of wildlife. Beavers\, ducks and geese all rely on this habitat. There is also a sizable heronry right at the edge of the forest.

SUMMARY:Moonlit Gathering with CVRLT at Komlo Preserve
DESCRIPTION:On January 1\, 2018\, the full moon will rise at 9:25 pm.  Join with others on Komlo Preserve\, one of the properties belonging to The Candlewood Valley Regional Land Trust\, for a short stroll and gathering to view the full moon and bring in the New Year. \nAdult and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks will be served.  This preserve is an idyllic setting with open meadows\, wildlife sanctuary\, forested wetlands\, a man made pond and it is situated right in the center of town. This donation came from Joseph Komlo as the Open Space for the Dunham Pond Condominiums. The pond\, which was made when gravel was mined for the building of Route 37\, is home to a wide array of wildlife. Beavers\, ducks and geese all rely on this habitat. There is also a sizable heronry right at the edge of the forest. This property is the southern end of the Shortwoods Brook Aquifer.  This gift certificate good for four people – a value of $80 donated by The Candlewood Valley Regional Land Trust.

DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 12\, 10 am \nRedding/Bethel/Danbury. Hike a part of the Ives Trail through several Candlewood Valley Regional Land Trust properties. \nApproximately 5 mile hike including one mile  road walk to complete a loop. The terrain includes some steep hills. \nMeet at the outer parking lot for the West Redding Trail Station. This is just North of the RR tracks\, near the intersection of Sympaug Turnpike and Long Ridge Road in Redding.  Use 1 Long Ridge Rd\, Redding\, CT for GPS. DESCRIPTION:Hike Leader: Bill McCann \nDifficulty: Easy/Moderate \nDuration: 3 hours. \nThis hike will take you through a varied and beautiful landscape of wooded hills\, streams\, interesting rock formations\, and up to Look Out Point.  Enjoy sweeping vistas and views down to Squantz Pond. \nDirections: Pine Hill Rd\, New Fairfield CT 06812 (Pine Hill Road is off of RT 37 just north of Beaver Bog Road. Near the end of the road (about 2.5 miles) the road splits with one leg going straight down to a cul de sac and the right leg ends at the trailhead. Take the right to the parking area.
